Get Involved – Membership
Membership Committee Goals:
- Establish processes that ensure member retention.
- Actively seek out new members to join the organization.
- Work toward ways to get more MGTA members actively involved in the organization’s programs.
Needed: Chairperson (1–2 people)
Time commitment: 2–3 hours/month
Responsibilities:
- Set up committee (follow up with members interested in this committee) .
- Hold regular meetings with committee to ensure goals are being met.
- Serve as point of contact for committee segments.
- Communicate with Board Director on issues, results, and ideas as needed.
Needed: Retention segment members (4–7 people)
Time commitment: 15 min/month to 1 hour/month
Responsibilities:
- Member Renewals (2-3 people, 15 min/month)
– Call members up for renewal and lapsed
- New Members (1-2 people, 15 min/month)
– Call new members to welcome them to the association
- Member Benefits (1-2 creative people, 1 hour/month)
– Promote current membership benefits (discount seminar fees, member only events, golf outing, annual meeting/reception, networking events, membership listing, no-fee job posting, newsletter)
– Identify/implement new opportunities
Needed: Recruitment segment members (2 people)
Time commitment: 15 min/month
Responsibilities:
- Call nonmember event attendees and office contacts about membership interest
Needed: Involvement segment members (2–4 people)
Time commitment: 1 hour/month or 1 hour/quarter
Responsibilities:
- Recruit members to volunteer for events or committees (in person at events or by phone, 1 hour/month)
- Develop recognition programs for members and volunteers (1 hour/quarter)
