MGTA is thrilled to host its annual U.S. Trade Year in Review!  Our keynote speaker, Marianne Rowden, President and CEO of the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI), will pose a fitting question for 2017--Does Trade Policy Matter?  Her remarks will cover a significant swath of what did and did not get done this year regarding the following topics:

  • Trade Policy: Status of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
  • Legislation: Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, the Generalized System of Preferences, and AAEI’s Mod Act II
  • Regulation: Federal Register Notice on Reducing Regulations, implementation of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (TFTEA), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) issues,  Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) initiatives, E-Commerce/WCO E-Commerce Work Group and AAEI Trade Trends Report

Following Marianne’s remarks, Kathi Murphy and Nick Guzman of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP will discuss in detail the status of the ongoing NAFTA trade talks, including the renegotiation process, the effort to modernize the trade deal, and remaining sticking points.  In addition, they will provide a candid assessment of the Trump Administration’s effort to launch a series of bilateral trade agreements with some of our major trade partners.
