What will you learn? The speakers will provide an overview of the export documentation process, what export documents are required, and how to complete the required documentation. Incoterms 2000 (internationally recognized terms of sale) will also be discussed from an export perspective. An experienced private sector representative will also provide best practices on the implementation of export documentation and Incoterms into their company’s international trade practices.
Who should attend?
International trade professionals in the areas of management, trade compliance, business development, contracts, international sales/marketing, and shipping/logistics should attend.

About the Speakers
Amelia Goeppinger works with the U. S. Commercial Service promoting export resources and assisting companies with their market research projects and international trade strategies, as well as counseling companies regarding export documentation, export requirements, foreign policy, and other international business topics. Amelia is the co-chair for the MGTA’s Education Committee. She received a Masters of Business Administration in August 2007 from Metropolitan State University.
Catherine J. Petersen is the principal of CJ Petersen & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in export or import documentation, regulatory compliance, and training. She co-authored three books on international trade (Exporting: Regulations, Documentation, Procedures; Primer on International Air and Ocean Transportation; and U.S. Domestic Terms of Sale and INCOTERMS 2000®) and authored Incoterms 2000 – A Practical Review. She has conducted qualitative and quantitative research on behalf of Minnesota, U.S. government agencies, and international consultants related to international freight flows, origin and destination of products, and mode of shipment.
Mari Smith-McClafferty is a senior global logistics and export regulatory compliance manager at Medtronic, Inc. She is a two-time winner of the Medtronic Star of Excellence Award and winner of the Extreme Award for creating a global, centralized export management program at Medtronic. Mari is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds diplomas from the Sorbonne (Paris, France) and Anoka Technical College for international trade. She has more than 30 years of experience in international logistics, sales, freight forwarding, international crating, and intermodal sales and service, as well as compliance consulting. For most of her career, she has exported high-tech medical products and expedited urgent medical shipments to worldwide markets. Mari is a current member of the MGTA board of directors and is a charter member of the Twin Cities Import/Export Council and the International Compliance Professional Association (ICPA).
