About the Speakers
Jean Carlson is currently a senior international trade specialist and empowered official for a local aerospace company. She is a lawyer with eight years of export licensing and compliance experience in the aerospace and armaments technology industries. She received her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law and a master of business administration degree from Troy State University. Jean has more than 16 years of experience working in the areas of government contracts, international trade, and regulatory compliance.
Amelia Goeppinger is an international trade specialist who works with the U.S. Commercial Service promoting export resources and assisting companies with their market research projects and their international trade strategies. In addition, she provides counseling to companies regarding export documentation, export compliance, foreign policy, and other international business topics. Amelia is the chair of the Midwest Global Trade Association’s Education Committee. She received a master of business administration degree in August 2007 from Metropolitan State University.
Kelly Jernberg is currently an international trade specialist and an empowered official at The Bergquist Company. She obtained her international trade professional certification and is pursuing a bachelor of science in international business from Metropolitan State University. For the last five years, Kelly has been specifically focused on ITAR and EAR responsibilities. She has experience in a variety of supply chain functions as well as import and export compliance.
Bryan Pabin has worked as a special agent with the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of Export Enforcement for the past four years. Prior to working with BIS, he was an import/export manager at a beverage distributor for three years, including active work with U.S. Customs, forwarders, and international business overall. Bryan was a criminal investigator with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Inspector General for three years. He also served as an army intelligence officer for nine years, including a one-year deployment for the war on terror. He graduated with a degree in public administration.
Star Schween is an international trade specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service. This U.S. Department of Commerce agency has a mission to foster and promote the export of U.S. goods and services. In her position as trade specialist, Star helps Minnesota companies by promoting Commercial Service programs that identify potential markets and find partners such as distributors and sales agents. In addition, Star counsels companies on many topics, such as international shipping requirements, export regulations, documentation, foreign import requirements and standards, trade agreements, and export finance resources. Within the Commercial Service, she is one of four employees designated as an export control specialist. In this capacity, she offers her expertise to other trade specialists and their clients throughout the United States.
Mark F. Wilson is currently a senior international trade specialist and empowered official for a local aerospace company. He is a certified U.S. export compliance officer with nine years of export licensing experience in the aerospace and high technology industry. He is a graduate of St. Paul College with a degree in world trade. Mark has more than 15 years of experience working in international trade and is experienced in wide variety of international trade functions, techniques, and tools, such as international payment, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
