About the Program

How well are you classifying your products and chemicals? Do you know the consequences for being noncompliant?

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned compliance professional, this seminar is for you.

While, we all try to ensure minimum disruption to our customers supply chain as products move from origin to destination, it can be easy to overlook classification and customs clearance, which, if not done properly, can be time consuming and costly to importers.

Noncompliance with US Customs laws can result in penalties, entry rejection, product destruction, and could potentially damage a company’s or brand’s reputation.
That’s why it’s so important to have a clear understanding and knowledge of the tariff laws and how to properly classify each product.

Andrea Abraham, attorney and author of the Chemical Customs Classification Manual and Mark Wilson, International Trade Compliance Manager at UTC Aerospace Systems will be conducting this seminar. In addition to providing an overview of the classification system, she will cover:

  • How to use the tariff schedule
  • How to apply the GRIs
  • How to best classify challenging areas related to chemicals, supported with a reference-guide presentation to take with you after the seminar
  • Case studies and learn compliance best practices
  • Hands on classification practice – work through a course example or bring your own example to complete during the course

There will also be a hands-on classification exercise. You can work though a course example or bring your own to complete during the course.

Anyone who is involved with international business should have a basic knowledge of classification. Customs house brokers, customs compliance professionals, import personnel, export personnel and anyone who needs to understand import should attend this seminar.
