Program Description

We're having a panel discussion! We are excited to bring to you a panel discussion to talk about trade automation with three different importer/exporters who implemented three different trade systems with common goals, among others, to increase program efficiency, save the company money, and decrease risk in trade activity. We will hear how these companies went about building a business case to get others on board, implementing the right system, analyzing cost savings, and more! The trade tools utilized by these panelists consist of SAP GTS (SAP Global Trade Services), BSM (Buy, Sell, Move), and Shipping Solutions.

Who Should Attend

Importers, Exporters, IT Managers, Customs Specialists, Traffic Logistics Specialists, anyone involved in the transportation, compliance and importing process including working with overseas vendors, and suppliers

Doug Whitman

Doug Whitman3M Business Transformation Chief Product Owner for Global Trade Services

Trade Tool: SAP Global Trade Services SAP GTS (SAP Global Trade Services)

Doug is a licensed Customs Broker with 30 years of experience in the trade compliance industry. He is currently the 3M Global Chief Product Owner for Global Trade Services software development and deployment. Prior to this assignment Doug has worked as a global trade compliance manager for 3M with a wide breadth of experience in Import regulations, country of origin preferential and government and duty savings programs. Prior to Joining 3M 18 years ago Doug was a product owner for a Global Trade Management software company and worked in the brokerage industry on strategic customer initiatives.



John Hickman

John Hickman3M Global Trade Compliance IT Lead

John is an SAP professional with 20 years of experience and a focus on trade compliance software. He is currently the 3M IT Lead for the deployment of SAP Global Trade Services. John’s previous work experience includes developing and deploying Global Trade Management software at Cargill, SAP and Integration Point.



Jitendra Singh

Jitendra Singh is the founder and Director of Trade and Logistics Practice at Ropaar Consulting. He has extensive experience solving Customs and Compliance challenges through software and technology. Jitendra is a thought leader in his domain. He has authored the first book on implementing SAP Global Trade Services and is a frequent speaker at conferences and forums focused on SAP solutions. Jitendra resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and three sons. When not solving complex trade problems for his clients, Jitendra is traveling around the world with his family.



Kate Weiner

Kate Weiner is the Director of North America Customs at Cargill. She represents one region of a global team that focuses on customs planning and strategy, governing customs compliance and managing customs controversy for one of the largest agribusiness companies in the world. Kate has been active in the trade industry for over 20 years beginning in the US Senate, then moving on to the International Trade Administration at the Department of Commerce, the State of Texas, E. & J. Gallo Winery and now Cargill based out of their global headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. Kate has supported numerous trade associations, was recently appointed to the 15th Term of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee and is a Licensed Customs Broker since 2009. Kate also holds an International Food Law Certification from Michigan State University as well as a B.A. in International Public Policy from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
