In the U.S., recent years have seen an upward trend in government use of both export controls and sanctions to oppose strategic adversaries such as Iran, Russia, Venezuela and, most recently, China, whose telecommunications giant Huawei has been subjected to escalating restrictions on exports of U.S. products, software and technology.  All companies engaging in international business should be aware of their role in enforcing the U.S. government's foreign policy priorities and maintain risk-based procedures for managing their compliance responsibilities.  The program will touch upon OFAC's Framework for Compliance Commitments and briefly treat the restrictions on the import and export of products and technology to and from China.
